In Germany, Sky has chosen to build a 360º set in the center of the newsroom for its new channel Sky Sport News HD, using the latest technology in robotization and lighting.

Sky Deutschland has launched its new channel Sky Sport News HD and has chosen to trust Vitec Videocom for automated production, including prompters from Autoscript ASK, LED lighting solutions from Litepanels and various robotics for cameras from Vinten Radamec.

Instead of isolating the channel's presenters with writing and production in separate rooms, Sky has chosen in Germany to build a 360º set in the center of the newsroom. The challenge for designers has undoubtedly been to harmonize all the elements involved in a newsroom with those of a set.

Using sophisticated robotic cameras, six Vinten Radamec Fusion FP-188 robotic pedestals and their corresponding FH-100 heads, along with two Telemetrics cameras, are controlled directly from the Vinten Radamec HDVRC.

In this way, a large number of predefined positions are programmed by the controller in advance, and during broadcast, the camera angles are selected by the Mosart production automation system. This means that during normal programming, the studio can operate without any camera operators.

LED lighting

Sky Deutschland is a strong advocate of good environmental management and considers energy savings to be an important objective. For this reason, he has equipped the new studio with LED lighting from Litepanels. The height of the ceiling of the newsroom-set also made it impossible to use conventional lighting, so Litepanels sources were chosen which, in addition to energy savings, barely give off heat.
As for the propmter, the Autoscript system has been perfectly integrated with the iNews system, updating the script in real time as many times as necessary.

Francesco Donato, Vice President of Operations at Sky Deutschland, highlighted that they already had “good experiences with Vitec at Sky Italia and once again they have supplied us with excellent equipment for the new 24-hour sports channel Sky Sport HD.”
