Cinematographer Vinit Borrison relies on Dejero for remote productions

Der Dejero EnGo transmitter was employed by cinematographer Vinit Borrison to produce several pieces during the period of lockdown caused by Covid-19.

Dejero’s Smart Blending technology enabled Borrison to obtain high quality, low latency video during the shooting, editing and delivery of a Neutrogena commercial. Borrison, his wife and young daughter starred in the piece, a production that was shot, produced and edited by the cinematographer from home using Dejero’s EnGo mobile transmitter.

The device allowed the director, from New York, to connect with the agency in Los Angeles and clients in Toronto via a Zoom call. In Dejero’s words, this remote workflow meant that neither the crew nor the staff had to be physically on set.

Borrison himself sums up the experience: “When the pandemic hit and social distancing was enforced, there was no option for the industry but to work remotely with bare minimal crew, which had a lot of production companies scrambling. But as we’d already adopted Dejero’s connectivity solution into our workflows, it was the perfect storm which has actually opened up many more opportunities for us.”

Greater flexibility in production

Borrison began using Dejero’s EnGo mobile transmitters on series, feature films and commercials in early 2020. Thanks to the solution, Borrison began working with tighter deadlines, offering its clients “more flexibility.”

It means that everyone has a great view of what is being filmed at that moment so faster, and more considered, creative decisions can be made, which enhances overall production values.”
