Aviwest TV2

Danish broadcaster TV2‘s newest SNGs have been equipped with a range of connectivity solutions from Aviwest.

Specifically, the vans are equipped with Aviwest Pro3 series linked transmitters, HE4000 UHD/multi-HD video encoders and Quad CellLink antennas, among other solutions. This equipment will enable TV2 to move from Ku-band satellite to a fully IP-based production workflow.

Furthermore, by deploying the StreamHub transceiver platform, TV2 can transmit simultaneously to multiple destinations, such as web, OTT and TV. StreamHub integrates with Aviwest’s Safe Streams Transport (SST) protocol, which combines multiple algorithms such as FEC, ARQ and VBR rate control. This system also supports other streaming protocols such as RTMP, RTSP/RTP, HLS and TS/IP.

Through the HE4000 encoders and camera-mounted Pro380 linked transmitters, TV2 can remotely produce multi-camera live reports and multi-platform contributions with up to five simultaneous video streams. Camera control is managed through the CyanView RCP, which is integrated with the Aviwest solution.

TV2 can also broadcast live duplex interviews while simultaneously capturing live drone footage. All equipment installed inside an SNG and IP van can be fully supervised by TV2’s technical team.

Aviwest TV2 HE4000Jens Christoffersen, TV2’s technical solutions architect, details the benefits their new vehicles will provide: “The new vans enable us to produce more high-quality, value-added live content for the same cost. Our journalists and camera operators can move freely and operate all of the equipment with ease. With AVIWEST’s solutions, remote areas become accessible. The equipment is more modular, compact, and lightweight that what we were using previously, and we have the unique capability to support news helicopter feeds, if necessary”.

Davide Jaouen, sales director at Aviwest, adds: “By streamlining their production workflow and optimizing costs with our advanced AVIWEST solution, TV2 can offer an increased amount of live video content and boost viewer engagement.”
