Teradek - Wave

Teradek, part of the Vitec Group, has released Wave, a “5-in-1”streaming monitor that offers encoding, smart event creation, network bonding, multi-streaming and recording.

Wave, a “compact and versatile” solution, offers all of these functions through a 7″ daylight-viewable touchscreen display. The system, which encodes in H.264 up to 1080p60 to any RTMP destination while supporting simultaneous on board recording, features hot-swappable batteries, così come USB-C power supply for extended productions.

Among its main attractions is the ability to set up an unlimited number of events in advance thanks to the FlowOS workflow. This operating system guides users through the creation of their events in advance, addressing everything from video and audio configuration to network connection and destination settings. The system also enables real-time video monitoring, remote configuration control and broadcast analysis. These remote management tasks can be managed through Wave’s mobile app, which collects all kinds of streaming statistics, such as bitrate or network status. Teradek - Wave - Cámara

On the other hand, Wave users can pair the device with Sharelink, Teradek’s cloud service. Sharelink allows video bitrate splitting between multiple network connections, such as Ethernet, USB modems and mobile hotspots. If one of the connections becomes unreliable, Wave load-balances the remaining connections, ensuring a stable connection in difficult environments. Sharelink, on the other hand, also allows transmissions to be sent to multiple platforms at the same time.

Michael Gailing, vice president and general manager of Creative Solutions’ live production division, believes that “Wave not only enables production crews to elevate the quality and the reach of their events, but it reduces setup and breakdown times, and improves the overall dynamic of the viewer’s experience.”
