Atomos Ninja V Stream 2021

Átomos announces major new releases for 2021: the new Ninja V+, compatible with Apple ProRes RAW 8K; and the Ninja Stream, ready to work in 4Kp60 HDR. Furthermore, Ninja V receives the H.265 codec upgrade option.

The new Ninja V+ e Ninja V+ Pro Kit take their foundations from the Ninja V. Available in May 2021, they offer high-quality monitoring and expanded recording capabilities. Specifically, the new V+ offer support for continuous 8Kp30 RAW recording (when connected to the Cânone EOS R5) and 4Kp120 in Apple ProRes RAW (in combination with the Z CAM E2 e E2-M4).

Also included in the device’s codec arsenal is the ability to record video inputs using the 10-bit H.265 (HEVC) codec for high-quality compressed recordings with small file sizes.

Similarly, the Ninja V+ is presented as an expandable solution, given its compatibility with Atomos “future products” and upcoming AtomX modules.

Atomos Ninja+Pro Kit for SDI streams

To further support SDI users, Atomos has introduced the Ninja V+ Pro Kit, which comes with additional accessories and enables 4Kp120 ProRes RAW recording mode from the SDI RAW output of Sony‘s FX9 e FX6. However, in order to operate under these formats, the FX9 requires the XDCA-FX9 extension unit and both the FX6 and FX9 require the AtomX SDI module with RAW activation (or the Pro Kit).

In terms of general features, the Ninja V+ arrives with a 5″ display and 1000Nit Ninja. Other highlights are the integrated 3D LUT box function with its own custom LUTs, AtomHDR processing engines for built in Log to HDR transformations or presets storage.

Another new product announced is the Atomos Ninja Stream. The device offers simultaneous recording of both ProRes e H.264/5 proxy recordings with shared file names and timecode, while sending video feeds to other Ninja, smart devices or web-based platforms simultaneously.

This 5″ connected HDR monitor-recorder features Wi-Fi, Ethernet e USB-C connections. Video streams are shared with others on set via Wi-Fi to devices and 1Gbe Ethernet up to 300m. It also allows livestreaming of content in parallel.

Ninja V, now with H.265

Finally, Atomos has announced that the original Ninja V, released in 2018, will be updated with the ability to add the H.265 (HEVC) codec in May 2021. Similarly, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to continue to develop compatibilities with new cameras as well as additional functionalities through AtomX modules.
