Amazon MGM Studios: cloud production with Avid and AWS

Avid Media Composer and the Nexis storage solution will be deployed in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environments to enable Amazon MGM Studios to transform its production and post-production workflows.

Amazon MGM Studios e Avid entered into a strategic partnership three years ago with the goal of bringing “global, agile and efficient” creative tools to the cloud that can be used anywhere, anytime. Those efforts are now materializing in the effective application of Media Composer and Nexis in the day-to-day operations of Amazon’s studios, allowing for “accelerated turnaround times” and “reduced complexity.”

The collaboration reinforces agility and efficiency through cloud automation on AWS, enabling new editorial environments to be launched globally in a matter of minutes. This workflow was recently applied to a story that was shot in India, with dailies in Mumbai and editorial in London and Spain. This flexibility allowed editorial changes to be made without interruption during production, while encouraging “creative flexibility and international collaboration.”
