Telefónica strengthens Movistar+ with Aquila On-Demand from MediaKind

Aquila On-Demand, a technology developed by МедиаКинд, has been integrated into Telefónica’s Movistar+ platform.

Тем Aquila On-Demand solution, which was launched in August 2020, will be deployed to provide fast asset processing of Movistar+’s OTT и IPTV on-demand content, covering transcoding, transformation, packaging и delivery capabilities.

MediaKind’s system will enable Телефон to deliver new Вида content to the Movistar+ platform. To do so, the system relies on several digital rights management (Дрм) platforms, including HLS/Fairplay и DASH/CENC. Similarly, 4К content will be enhanced by leveraging the latest HEVC/H264 codec implementations.

Microservices architecture

МедиаКинд notes that Aquila will provide Movistar+ with a “dramatic increase” in performance, given that the solution is built on microservices that allow media to be processed “twice as fast.” В то же время, Telefónica’s operations will be simplified thanks to the unification of the graphical user interface (GUI) с Вида controller.
