Lyon Video - Unidad Móvil - Matrox Extio 3

Matrox Extio 3 KVM extenders have been selected by Lyon Video to reinforce the connectivity of their mobile units, used for all types of productions.

Lyon Video needed a KVM solution that would allow users to connect and switch between multiple hardware platforms in the event of system failures. Another requirement was for production studio engineers to be able to remotely access these mobile unit broadcast systems to provide real-time technical support during events. Finally, the last key was for the system to be based on IP technology, so that they could take advantage of their one GB Ethernet infrastructure.

Extio 3 met all of these needs. Lyon Video is now standardizing on the Matrox system both in their facilities and in their mobile units. Key to its future developments will be the use of the Aggregator Mode, included as standard on the devices. Thanks to this system, operators can simultaneously view and manage multiple source systems from their remote displays, which support 4K resolution, and control them remotely.

A “critical” upgrade

Kevin Norris, part of Lyon Video’s engineering team, believes that Matrox’s Extio 3 has made it much easier for remote users to connect to mobile units.

In his own words, “This upgrade has been quintessential in allowing us to save on travel costs, maximize our resources while maintaining superior production quality, and keep our staff safe and distant from one another during COVID-19.”
