Spinpoint M9T: 2 TB on a disk just 9.5 millimeters thick
The new drive from Seagate Technology includes a SATA 6 Gb/s interface that ensures fast and constant performance, along with NoiseGuard and SilentSeek, technologies that provide ultra-quiet operation.
Seagate Technology Samsung has announced from its HDD division, which is now available to manufacturers, system integrators and consumers with high storage capacity, the new 2.5-inch Spinpoint M9T, an internal hard drive that, at 9.5 mm thick, becomes the thinnest 2 TB hard drive in the world.
In addition, Seagate has also announced that this same drive will have its external hard drive version with the new Backup Plus Slim range, and that it will be made available to users in mid-December.
Available in 1.5TB and 2TB capacities, these new Spinpoint M9T drives become the ideal solution for both internal and external storage.
Dave Frankovich, senior product line manager for Samsung HDD, referring to the internal version of said drive, commented that "the M9T combines the highest storage density in a single device with an innovative design that suits conventional portable applications. While other 2TB solutions are 15 mm thick, in reality, the vast majority of portable devices are designed to use a 9.5 mm drive. With the M9T, those devices can now have 2TB of storage, which means for users a much richer computing experience.”
