The TV Academy brings together executives from the audiovisual world at a breakfast
March 8 has been the date chosen by the Academy of Television and Audiovisual Sciences and Arts to organize a meeting under the theme of women and leadership.
Three professionals with extensive experience in the audiovisual sector participated in this meeting with academics: Xelo Montesinos (CEO of Unicorn Content), Carmen Ferreiro (Director of Entertainment Programs Atresmedia) y Nathalie Garcia (CEO of Fremantle Spain). Carmen Amores (member of the Board of Directors of the TV Academy and president of FORCE) has been in charge of moderating a conversation that has sought to "reflect on the moment we are living in, what has been achieved and the pending challenges in terms of equality."
This group of women has shared, for just over an hour, their experiences about the evolution of role of female directors in Spanish audiovisual and his opinion on the future challenges of the audiovisual sector. Xelo Montesinos, in his speech, highlighted the achievements achieved in terms of equality: "It is a matter of time before women in the audiovisual industry continue to grow in confidence as professionals. It is important to claim the value of experience beyond gender and encourage opportunities for new generations of talent."
For its part, Carmen Ferreiro has shared that "the audiovisual sector is an oasis in the field of women's labor rights. I think there has been significant progress in recent years and we are very well represented in terms of talent and management positions, at least in my direct experience at Atresmedia, where we have a director of fiction, entertainment, broadcast, current affairs...many women leading. We have to continue working so that this continues to happen in society and women reach positions of responsibility."
Nathalie Garcia He has also reflected on the importance of access to education to achieve achievements in terms of social equality: "The challenge and the key are there. Equal employment opportunities begin with equity in terms of training. We must prioritize girls and boys, the youngest, having equal access to education. It is not easy because it depends on many factors, but we must fight for it."
This first talk is part of the initiative “The Academy Breakfasts”, a meeting point for dialogue and reflection between members of the Academy and recognized professionals in the sector in various fields.
