Riedel strengthens ties with Haivision to integrate 5G solutions into its ecosystem

The new alliance signed between ヘイビジョン そして リーデルコミュニケーションズ will result in the deployment of the 5G video contribution tools of the specialised company in projects promoted by the managed technology area of the German company.

By combining Haivision’s ultra-low latency live video transmission systems with the Easy5G Private 5G solution, customers will have access to complete wireless video solutions from a single provider, including planning, operation and technical support provided by Riedel’s managed technology team. This joint deployment debuted in November during a live broadcast by German public broadcaster WDR, which marked the start of the Cologne carnival season. Two Easy5G base stations provided coverage across Heumarkt, one of Cologne’s largest public squares. Specifically, two of WDR’s ten cameras were equipped with Haivision’s 5G mobile video transmitters: a fixed wireless camera aimed at the audience and a mobile unit used for live interviews and dynamic shots of the stage. The transmitters converted the SDI signals to IP and transmitted them with stable, low-latency performance over the Easy5G private 5G network to the Haivision StreamHub receivers in the mobile unit.

“Easy5G also has the capacity to support additional applications on the same network. In the future, production teams could use intercom functions via Virtual SmartPanels directly on their smartphones, via the same Easy5G network that simultaneously transmits wireless video streams,” adds Voss.
