Cuatro will expand its news from two to six hours a day
Among the main novelties, the launch of 'Morning Four', from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and the replacement of Iñaki Gabilondo by Javier Ruiz. Gabilondo will go on to direct and present an information and analysis program in prime time on CNN+ although he will maintain his 'editorial' on Noticias 2 de Cuatro.
Cuatro will reinforce its commitment to current events by significantly extending the duration of its news programs starting next January 25. The editions of News 1 and News 2 will last 45 minutes and their start time will be 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. respectively, from Monday to Sunday. Noticias Cuatro will give way at 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to the daily editions of Noticias Cuatro Deportes, which also expand its offering.
The news program Noticias Cuatro 1 will be presented by Manu Carreño and Mónica Sanz; Carreño remains, together with Manolo Lama, at the head of the desktop sports edition, where they have built one of the chain's greatest successes.
Javier Ruiz leaves the midday news program to take charge of the new Noticias Cuatro 2, alongside Anne Ibarzábal. The sports edition of this slot will be hosted by Nico Abad and Raúl Ruiz, who joins the team of presenters. The weekend editions continue to be presented by Miguel Ángel Oliver and Marta Reyero, along with Juanma Castaño and Luís García in sports.
This decision, together with the start today of Matinal Cuatro from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., is part of the strengthening of information on Cuatro and the launch of the new CNN +, a channel that is preparing a renewed informative proposal, with new formats and programs, which will be announced soon.
Gabilondo
Iñaki Gabilondo will direct and present the information and analysis program that CNN+ will premiere in its prime time. Iñaki Gabilondo will make this new program compatible with his presence on the news program Noticias Cuatro2, where he will continue to write his daily commentary which, since the birth of Cuatro, has constituted a highly prestigious editorial appointment. Silvia Intxaurrondo also joins CNN +'s new prime time news offering.
With the implementation of these changes and the premiere of Matinal, Cuatro turns current events, which spend from two to six hours a day, into one of the axes of the network.
Cuatro and CNN+ in the Haiti tragedy
Cuatro and CNN+ have become one of the first ENG teams from around the world that have managed to reach the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince, to report on the consequences of the devastating earthquake. Despite the difficulties, the lack of electricity supply and the insecurity that is currently being experienced in the country, the team led by journalist Edurne Arbeloa has been sending its reports since yesterday.
