The match between France and Portugal obtained a peak traffic of 7.26 Tbps, a peak audience of 3.31 million viewers and an average bitrate of 2.09 Mbps
The Euro 2016 final match between France and Portugal has set a new Internet audience record and has surpassed the record of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Euro 2016 has thus become the largest live sporting event ever delivered by Akamai Technologies.
The match between France and Portugal had a peak traffic of 7.26 Tbps, a peak audience of 3.31 million viewers and an average bitrate of 2.09 Mbps. The highest peak traffic recorded at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil was 6.9 Tbps during the semi-final match between Argentina and the Netherlands on 9 July 2014.
Akamai was selected by around thirty broadcasters and Euro rights holders around the world to offer their viewers a fantastic streaming experience.
