Riedel Networks - Dyn Media

Dyn Media, a sports streaming platform specialising in minority sports, has decided to entrust Riedel Networks (Riedel) as a “connectivity partner”.

From summer 2023, Riedel Networks will provide connectivity services for national leagues and cup competitions such as the LIQUI MOLY Handball Bundesliga and DHB Cup (handball), and the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga and BBL Cup (basketball).

Riedel Networks will bundle all audio and video signals from more than 70 venues across Germany at Dyn’s locations in Cologne and Munich and process them in two virtual production units (VPU). These are connected via Riedel Networks‘ own network on a redundant 10 gig fibre ring to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform and the Dyn Operations Centre (DOC) in Wuppertal, where more than 1,300 matches will be serviced in up to 160 calendar days of production. NEP Germany has been confirmed as the production company that will be responsible for producing more than 700 matches per season benefiting from this remote production model.

The aim of Dyn Media, founded by former DFL president Christian Seifert in cooperation with Axel Springer, is to bring previously under-represented sports into the spotlight of German media and to take their TV production to a new level. The streaming service has already secured the media rights to other national leagues, such as the TTBL Table Tennis Bundesliga and the VBL Volleyball Bundesliga, and is scheduled to go live in June 2023.

Andreas Heyden, CEO of Dyn Media, values the agreement with Riedel Networks very positively: “Especially in innovative and sustainable remote productions, connectivity is an essential umbilical cord. With Riedel Networks, we have chosen an experienced connectivity partner that can really guarantee smooth operations.”

His counterpart at Riedel Networks, Michael Martens, adds that “this partnership is a perfect match, considering Dyn’s glass-to-glass strategy, where new types of content and format production require an IP-enabled, innovative, and highly reliable media backbone”.
