Backlight improves its entire catalog with new automation tools powered by AI
Iconik, Wildmoka, Ftrack, Celtx and Zype solutions from Backlight Advance new advancements in AI-powered automation, asset management and live content production NAB 2025 (April 6 – 9, Las Vegas).
During NAB 2025, Backlight is introducing innovations in all its solutions aimed at simplifying workflows and maximizing efficiency through automation and artificial intelligence. In the words of Kathleen Barrett, company CEO: “From newsrooms using Wildmoka to publish stories faster to marketing teams using Iconik to launch global campaigns, our latest innovations are designed to make teams faster and companies stronger.”
Con Automation Engine, which will soon be available in Backlight's Iconik media management solution, while it can already be discovered at NAB 2025, users can create Automated workflows without needing to interact with the API. This way, content creators can automate tasks such as transcriptions, metadata-based asset movement, and storage management, significantly reducing costs and improving efficiency. Other Iconik advances presented at NAB are its AI-based facial recognition, a new application for iOS and the long-awaited integration with Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve.
Another great novelty from Backlight for NAB 2025 is Channel Studio, one new cloud-based solution Wildmoka for live channel management. Built entirely for browsers, Channel Studio allows digital teams to create and operate always-on channels “without the need for expensive control rooms or hardware.” From scheduling and ad breaks to monetization with ad templates, everything can be managed with ease.
The company will also present a full set of AI-based features for Wildmoka, designed to simplify the production of short-form vertical content. These features include speech-to-text in live ingest, live translation, smart verticalization with automatic rezoning, and titling and subtitle animations. Other novelties of this system are the automated metadata based on LLM or the insertion of SCTE markers.
Zype and Celtx, new stage with the potential of AI
Backlight also debuts new features at NAB 2025 Zype, aimed at continuing to expand its end-to-end video management and distribution capabilities. Among them, stands out the AI-based automated transcription and subtitling; Zype portals, branded microsites for securely sharing videos with external audiences; the third generation of the Zype analytics dashboard, which offers real-time information on content performance; Expanded live ingest with SRT and Zixi support for Zype Playout, and a perpetual content playback feature in applications.
On the other hand, screenwriting software Celtx of Backlight becomes integrated with Adobe Premiere Pro, allowing editors to import scripts directly into Premiere, automatically generating scene-based containers and linking the assets to the script content. This integration streamlines the editing process by enabling quick navigation between script and media, automated sequence creation, and real-time script synchronization. Additionally, Backlight also shows the latest functions of its Ftrack solution for production management, production monitoring and review of audiovisual assets.
