Race across the world

Adaptation of the British format created by Studio Lambert and distributed by All3Media International, RTVE prepared by the hand of Zeppelin (Banijay Iberia) the adaptation of 'Race Across The World', a new competition that combines the pressure of a race with the richness of a travel program, showing landscapes, cultures and challenges in almost real time.

In Race Across the World Celebrities from the world of culture, sports or television and a trusted companion must travel an extensive route through Latin America without using airplanes or electronic devices, such as mobile phones or GPS. They will travel only by land or sea, with a limited budget equivalent to the price of a plane ticket from the starting point to the end of the route.

The journey is divided into sections and, in each of the episodes, the teams must reach a specific checkpoint that is revealed at the beginning of the stage. Upon arrival, they must sign a travel book that records their order of arrival, which will also determine the order of departure in the next stage, respecting the time differences between the teams.

During the journey, contestants must make strategic decisions about what transportation to use, where to sleep, and how to manage their money. If they run out of funds, they can work to earn some extra money.

Race Across The World was awarded a BAFTA in 2020 as Best Reality and Constructed Factual. The British television format that has been successful on the BBC for five seasons also has a celebrity version, to which a second will be added this year.

The format has adaptations in the Netherlands, Denmark (Only until the end of the world) and Finland (Race Across the World Suomi). In addition, a version is being prepared this year in Germany for ZDF, and another in Norway for Discovery.
