Blackmagic - ATEM Constellation 8K Update

Blackmagic Design’s ATEM Constellation 8K switcher (9.3.3.), DaVinci Resolve post production software (18.6.6) and Cloud Store storage device (1.2) all receive major updates that address some of the demands of their users.

The ATEM Switchers 9.3.3 update for the ATEM Constellation 8K model features the long-awaited audio mapping, allowing audio channels to be manually routed from all SDI inputs to audio channels embedded in the SDI video outputs. In this way, it is possible to connect various audio sources, such as microphones and cameras, and send them to various embedded audio outputs for recording on a HyperDeck. If the HyperDeck is configured for multichannel audio recording, the recordings will have all the source audio necessary for a sound engineer to completely remix the audio in post-production.

On the other hand, this release adds color space and HDR override to ATEM Constellation 8K, allowing you to work with cameras that have a wider color gamut, up to Rec.2020. There are also a number of multiview enhancements for ATEM Constellation 8K, including the option to remove all edges, customize edge colors, enable or disable labels individually, as well as improved quality in interlaced modes.

Blackmagic - DaVinci Resolve 18.5 - NAB 2023For DaVinci Resolve, version 18.6.6 adds support for AVC MXF Op Atom encoding, allowing you to quickly edit, write to the same format and export without loss of quality. This update also improves the interpretation of the alpha channel in QuickTime files, which means that assets with built-in transparency will be displayed correctly when added to the project. The handling of 8K X-OCN clips has also been improved so that they can be trimmed without loss.

Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini 16TB

Blackmagic Cloud Store 1.2 and new 16TB model

Regarding Cloud Store, Blackmagic’s storage solution, its 1.2 release adds support for user authentication to Blackmagic Cloud Store and Cloud Store Mini, providing enhanced security by offering administrator-controlled access to read, write and edit privileges via secure user logins. This update also includes improved synchronization with Dropbox, displaying a warning when files exceed the Dropbox size limit, as well as improved sync speed with Google Drive accounts.

Blackmagic has also announced a 16TB model of the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini solution. In addition to increased storage, it features a high-speed 10G Ethernet connection and four internal M.2 flash memory cards running in parallel RAID 0 to provide “extremely fast” file access. With Dropbox and Google Drive live sync, files can be distributed across multiple drives globally for local access.
