Caracol Radio has renovated its facilities in Medellín, trusting again in DHD and Stage Tec technology for the new consoles and its digital audio network, as it already did for its new headquarters in Bogotá.

Caracol Radio (Medellín, Colombia)

Aspa has carried out the comprehensive renovation of the Caracol Radio facilities in Medellín (Colombia), integrating a total of five DHD consoles and implementing an extensive network of next-generation Prodys audiocoders, ProntoNet LC model, for the national audio contribution over IP, communications through ISDN digital circuits and external telephone calls. Caracol Radio has an extensive audio communication network over IP, developed with Prodys equipment, integrating regional headquarters in Colombia, such as Medellín or Cali, and international headquarters, such as Miami or the correspondents from Spain or the US in New York.

Caracol Radio (Medellín, Colombia)The system is composed of a Stage Tec MADI matrix, Nexus Star model, where all the digital consoles are connected, and a DHD connection interface, model RM4200D, for the integration of all communication, distribution and transmission elements. The ProntoNet LC audiocoders are also connected, in order to have these communications available in real time in any of the on-air studios or production studios, allowing optimal use of the station's resources. All audiocoders are controlled via software (Prodys Control) from any of the studios, allowing them to be managed and controlled completely remotely.

For the consoles, the RM2200D DHD model has been chosen due to its great reliability, audio quality, ease of use and connection capacity. 5 consoles have been installed for the main studios; “W” Radio, Bésame, Oxígeno, Radio Reloj and Tropicana, all of them connected via MADI with the audio matrix, having 128 communication channels in each of them. In addition, a Yellowtec Intellimix console has been included for the journalists' booth, integrated through several AES/EBU channels to the audio matrix, providing direct access to any audio present in the system.
