TBS (Taipei Broadcasting Station)

Taiwanese state broadcaster TBS (Taipei Broadcasting Station) completes a major modernization project at its facilities in Taipei coordinated by the Taiwanese systems integrator ADE, in collaboration with Tiyu and Stagetec Asia, which has installed several DHD Audio. The work has been carried out over three months and has been completed without interrupting the chain's operations.

At the heart of the new audio network are eight DHD SX2 broadcast consoles, and TX2 multi-touch screen mixer, eight core XC3 y two XD3 cores. Each SX2 console is connected to two XC3 cores, one main and one auxiliary, which enable low-latency sound management and signal distribution. XD3 cores support system-wide routing.

“The project combined the seamless integration of advanced digital audio technology with the need to ensure zero downtime for TBS's 24-hour operations,” he says. Yap Wei Keong, Senior Project Manager at Stagetec Asia. "Each of the eight radio studios have been provided with the SX2 DHD system, which optimizes the live online mix. We have also integrated a TX2 into the main control room, where its touch interface simplifies complex operations and improves transitions between programs. The system includes an automatic scheduler that manages signal routing in sync with TBS programming, reducing the need for manual intervention. Meticulous planning ensured uninterrupted transmission throughout the project. The SX2 consoles and TX2 optimize operations and prepare the station for the future, so that it can meet the increasingly demanding standards of the sector.”

The update has been recognized with the MUSE Design Awards Gold Winner, highlighting TBS's commitment to innovation and sustainable development. Energy-efficient air conditioning systems and LED lighting, as well as wood reuse strategies, minimize environmental impact. The facades of the equipment room are coated with a double layer of paint that insulates electromagnetic waves. The air conditioning system uses an unconventional method to solve the challenge of low ceiling height.

He SX2 DHD is a modular audio mixer based on a four-fader central module. Each SX2 unit is a standalone tabletop device that can be daisy-chained with others to create a single console. The central module gives access to the most important audio inputs and outputs. A microphone input and headphone output are also included. Speakers can be connected directly. Additionally, a fader module with six motorized faders is available. This module allows you to add a second layer with capacity for up to 16 channels. The center and fader modules each incorporate a 10.1-inch multi-touch display that displays relevant configuration and operating parameters. The features of the SX2 can be expanded by simply adding optional license codes to the DSP core. This allows you to add additional faders, buses and clean signals. Features such as volume metering, swear delay, and talkback to other DHD mixers are also supported.

DHD TX: for small spaces

Designed for daily operation in tight spaces, the DHD TX2 Can be used standalone or to expand any DHD system. It offers access to numerous functions in a very small space, with only 25.8 cm wide and 27 cm deep. The forward-sloping tabletop panel includes a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch IPS display, two assignable potentiometers, and six silent multi-color physical buttons, enabling professional audio mixing. The number and size of faders can be easily configured, buttons can be assigned with the necessary functions and of course the peak meters can be configured to display the signal levels of specific channels. Frequently used connectors for projects such as telephone interviews or dubbing are easily accessible on the mixer's 5cm high rear panel. The TX2 connects to a central processor or hub via a single network cable that also carries all audio and control signals, plus power, up to a distance of 100 meters.

The DHD XC3 IP core consists of two dual-core DSP modules that are combined into 1U. These together support up to 48 stereo faders, 72 stereo buses and 16 AES67 IP audio channels. IPx expansion modules can be added to accommodate 128 AES67/Ravenna IP audio input/output channels and up to 512 Dante channels.

The core XD3 is a non-blocking audio routing matrix designed for modern broadcast environments. Connectivity options are available for Dante, AES67/Ravenna, MADI, AES3/EBU, Gigabit Audio, APC or analog signals. Two IPx expansion slots allow the Additional IPx modules can be added via XC3 IP core hubs, connected to the core via a Gigabit Audio connection.
