ETB renews the ingestion and play-out systems with Harmonic and Aicox Soluciones
The renewal plan undertaken by Euskal Telebista in a context of migration to high definition is made up of several phases that will be executed in the coming years.
Euskal Telebista (ETB) has undertaken the renewal of its broadcast continuity systems with Harmonic by the hand of Aicox Solutions. This renewal had a double motivation: to change systems that were reaching the end of their useful life and to migrate to high definition with the ability to broadcast in simulcast. In addition, the Basque regional government needed to renew and update the content editing systems for news, sports and programs to HD.
The renovation plan is made up of several phases that will be carried out in the coming years. So that there is no lack of integration with the rest of ETB's systems and workflows, Harmonic systems maintain compatibility with the formats it was currently using.
For phase 1 that has just concluded, Aicox Soluciones has provided the continuity playout video servers, to serve eighteen recording and playback channels, with a minimum of 60TB net storage. The chosen solution consists of Spectrum-X video servers, Spectrum MediaDirector controllers and several MediaStore cabinets.
MediaDirector system controllers are the core of the Spectrum video server system, actively managing the flow of data to and from other Spectrum components, such as MediaStore storage systems, MediaPort real-time I/O servers, and ChannelPort integrated playback servers. MediaDirectors provide the processing power and interface connections necessary to support a wide range of configurations and workflows.
