The agreement reached between both companies includes first-run films and a wide selection of catalog titles and TV series.

Telefónica and Sony Pictures have reached an agreement whereby the Telefónica group will offer in Latin America, through its Video on Demand (VoD) platforms, all Sony Pictures film releases, along with a wide selection of catalog titles and TV Series.

These contents, in addition to access to trailers and promotional material, will be distributed in the countries in which the Telefónica group operates in Latin America through its new Telefónica and Terra video on demand platforms.

The video on demand service allows the user to access audiovisual content in a personalized way, offering the possibility of viewing the movie or program of their choice whenever they decide with multiple functions such as rewinding, pausing and forwarding.

Users will be able to access feature films produced by Sony Pictures, including the latest releases, on a per-title rental basis. On the other hand, through the subscription model –by paying a monthly subscription–, users will have at their disposal a wide selection of movies and series in the catalogue.

Furthermore, access to these contents can be multi-screen, that is, through various types of devices such as connected TVs, Tablets, PCs, smartphones and game consoles.

Thanks to this agreement, Telefónica enriches the content offering of its virtual video store platforms in all the countries in which it operates in Latin America. Both companies already have agreements in Spain, the Czech Republic and Germany.

For Alfonso Pérez Soto, head of the Corporate Content Unit (UCC) of Telefónica Digital, "the agreement reached allows us to strengthen the collaboration between Telefónica and Sony Pictures in the development of access services to audiovisual content on demand. Both Companies are working on innovative models for exploiting the content catalog, in order to make the Telefónica user experience unique."

For his part, Robert Lanier, head of distribution for new media and pay TV at Sony Pictures Television, said: "We are delighted to extend our successful collaboration with Telefónica to Latin America. Our catalog of high-quality films and television series is found on on-demand platforms in Latin America and around the world."
