Connected television, a new horizon for animation and video games
3D Wire, the festival and market for animation, video games and new media, will debate how animation and video games have a new way of distributing their content on connected television.
3D Wire, the animation, video game and new media festival and market held in Segovia from November 4 to 10, will have the collaboration of Radio Televisión Española for the day dedicated to connected television.
Connected Television, also called Hybrid, unites the best of traditional television with the best of the Internet and offers the user a new personalized consumption experience and active participation in numerous television programs, among other functionalities. It is also a new business avenue for sectors such as animation and video games. 3D Wire thus approaches one of the trends with the most future within the audiovisual sector.
Last September RTVE launched what it called Red Button, with more than 90,000 hours of programming available for on-demand consumption, in addition to news and sports results, Clan programming and the latest news hour for the user to access on their television from the red button on the remote control and without having to go to other devices, such as a personal computer or a tablet. The entire experience is concentrated on the television. To be able to enjoy this service it is necessary to have a television with access to Hybrid DTT or HbbTV, the technological standard that Europe has agreed for this type of broadcasts.
Animation and video games have a new way of distributing their content on connected television. Although it is still an incipient and experimental market, the reception by users is being more than positive and the sales forecasts for connected televisions worldwide are 500 million by 2015. Without a doubt, Connected Television is here to stay.
The event, which will be held on Friday, November 8 from 9:30 a.m. at the Palacio de Quintanar, will be attended by Francisco Asensi, director of business development at RTVE Interactive; Pablo Romero, content director of Canal+ Yomvi; Xavier Redón, marketing director of Abertis; and José Luis Vázquez, CEO of Mira plc and president of AEDETI, Spanish Association of Interactive Television Companies. The four will debate the virtues and possibilities of this new interactive and personalized way of accessing audiovisual entertainment.
Transmedia narrative
The ways of consuming audiovisual content have changed definitively in recent years, and with it the way in which stories are presented to the user. For this reason, 3D Wire opens the door to transmedia narrative, one that travels through multiple platforms and invites the user to participate in an active and close way. The talk titled 'Transmedia, what? Do we really know what it means? Cases, trends and examples' is coordinated by Javier Ródenas, CEO of The Mad Media Company, a company specialized in multiplatform narrative, new forms of distribution and new technologies such as augmented reality, social networks, etc. and will feature Víctor López, CEO of Vodka Capital, who will be in Segovia on the morning of Friday, November 8 to talk about his experience with 'Bugsted', the company's first transmedia project, with a television series, video game and collectible figures, among other formats.
These are just two glimpses of the extensive programming that 3D Wire has prepared for its fifth edition, which already has the accreditation period open for all those interested in attending and the workshops for animators and video game developers.
