While on television, fiction (series and film spaces) and reality shows from general channels constitute their favorite content, with entertainment being the main function attributed to the medium, in the case of radio they distinguish between information and entertainment radio and music radio.
This is one of the results collected in the work carried out by professors Nereida López Vidales and Leire Gómez Rubio, The media diet of young Spaniards. New consumer habits and trends on radio and television, which will soon be published as a chapter of the book Current evaluation parameters for persuasive communication, coordinated by Professor David Caldevilla (collection New educational impulse), from Editorial Vision Libros (ISBN 978-84-15965-98-5).
The contribution exposes, first of all, what is the opinion of young people between the ages of 18 and 25 regarding the content currently offered by radio and television schedules, and whether they respond to their demands, preferences and concerns. From there, a comparative analysis of the consumption of both media carried out by this group is shown, both in terms of radio and television channels (general or thematic) and the genres and formats that they like the most. Along with this, an analysis is also offered about their consumption habits in terms of times, places and company in which they listen to the radio or watch television, to see if they show different behaviors and attitudes, depending on whether they tune in to one or another medium.
This publication is the result of two investigations carried out by the Digital Leisure and Entertainment Observatory (Killed): Youth preference in new television formats. Consumption trends in young people between 14 and 25 years old y The youth radio of the 21st century, both raised with the objective of knowing the preferences and consumption habits of this group both on radio and television with the objective of establishing important future trends regarding cultural change in terms of communication by the new generations.
