Telefónica strengthens its position in the CDN market with Akamai

Akamai y Telefónica sellan una alianza Global para Content Delivery Network, incluyendo los servicios de distribución de contenidos de Akamai en su oferta para empresas y multinacionales.

Akamai y Telefónica han cerrado una alianza estratégica global para incorporar las soluciones de distribución de contenidos (CDN) de Akamai en su oferta para empresas y multinacionales que operan con Telefónica.

Telefónica Global Solutions strengthens its CDN business by uniting Akamai's industry-leading Content Delivery platform with its own IP network, offering complete CDN and telecommunications solutions to its companies. This strategic alliance will have its initial focus on Spain and Latin America, with plans to expand globally.

Additionally, the companies have created an innovation committee to develop products and explore future opportunities, especially in fields such as multimedia optimization or mobile technologies. As part of their multi-year agreement, Akamai and Telefónica will jointly dedicate resources in areas of technical support, customer service, marketing and professional services with the aim of ensuring the best experience for their customers.

With nearly 323 million customers, including more than 254 million mobile subscribers, Telefónica provides high-quality network solutions that support the exponential growth of digital content. Telefónica customers will be able to benefit from the efficient delivery of high-quality digital content, video and web applications, offering a complete user experience.

The alliance with Telefónica will allow greater distribution of Akamai servers on Telefónica's IP network and will provide additional capacity in Spain and emerging markets in Latin America. The result is greater network efficiency, better quality of service for end users, and a more secure system.
