En pie, y con una larga ovación, recibieron anoche los profesionales a uno de los grandes maestros de la industria audiovisual, Manolo Romero, al recibir el Premio Panorama a Toda una Vida.

Manolo Romero Canela, uno de los profesionales más admirado y querido del sector y sin duda el español con más proyección internacional en la industria broadcast, ha sido galardonado con el Premio Panorama a Toda una Vida. El presidente del Comité de BIT Broadcast 2014, Rogelio de la Fuente, fue el encargado de entregar el premio.

Romero al recoger el premio animó a la industria a cruzar fronteras y abrir horizontes, reafirmándose “en la gran confianza que siempre he tenido en la industria española”. El homenajeado dedicó el galardón a su esposa e hija, presentes en la ceremonia.

Con este galardón, los Premios Panorama, instaurados por Panorama Audiovisual, reconocerán a partir de ahora el trabajo realizado por un profesional a lo largo de toda su carrera en este sector.

Born in Seville. Romero is a Telecommunications Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. After entering by competitive examination, he began his professional career in the Technical Directorate of TVE in 1965. Very soon he worked in international sporting events such as the Olympic Games. of Mexico in '68, forming part of the EBU/EBU operational group. At the World Cup in Spain in 1982, he was the top technical manager, whose indisputable success catapulted him to work with the American network ABC as head of the European Operations Directorate based in Paris.

Since its creation in 2003, he assumed the general management of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), the company formed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for television coverage of the Olympic Games, voluntarily leaving the first line of executives at the end of 2012 to become vice president of the company.

He is currently Advisor for television of the IOC, of ​​several international federations of different sports, vice president of OBS and president of ISB (International Sport Broadcasting).
