Heuvelman uses Riedel to create a network for AV, data and intercom at the 2014 Hockey World Cup
Thanks to Riedel technology, it is possible to transport all signals through a single cable with a significant reduction in complexity in the deployment of networks for media, data and intercommunication.
The Dutch Heuvelman Sound & Vision used solutions Riedel to provide an interconnected TETRA digital system and intercom system for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014, which concluded June 15 in The Hague. Throughout the field hockey tournament, Riedel's installation enabled the transport of HD video for two LED screens in the Kyocera stadium, as well as audio, video and data for the press area. He also provided an intercom system for the entire event.
Arjen Buijs, sales director at Heuvelman, highlighted that "Riedel Gear was a perfect solution for this project, as it alone allowed us to connect a digital TETRA system to an intercom system. The versatility and reliability of Riedel systems are always a compelling reason to use their equipment, providing us with seamless interoperability and trouble-free operation throughout the championship."
The 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup consisted of 76 games for both men and women with an agenda of up to six games a day. For this event, Heuvelman deployed a Riedel MediorNet real-time network, along with an Artist intercom system plus a Juggler compact digital radio backbone to connect Motorola 220 TETRA radios to the Artist system over MediorNet.
The high degree of interoperability between Riedel solutions allows all signals to travel over a single cable. This benefit significantly reduces the volume and complexity of cables required for all A/V signals, data and communications, facilitating a long-range connection between the control room and the stadium.
As a whole, the installation included five MediorNet frames, distributed across Kyocera Stadium and GreenFields Stadium, as well as the Artist digital intercom system for wired communications. Motorola wireless radios were connected to this system via Riedel's Juggler. Riedel provided on-site support throughout installation and testing, as well as remote support throughout the event.
