‘La Isla Mínima’ completely post-produced in 3K with Mistika
Juan Ventura Pecellín, colorist and digital effects supervisor, highlights the versatility, power and use of new technologies that Mistika has contributed to the film directed by Alberto Rodríguez.
The Minimum Island, one of the hits of the season and a film worthy of several awards at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, including the Silver Shell for best photography for Alex Catalán, was made using Mistika.
Directed by Alberto Rodríguez, The Minimum Island It has been shot with ARRI Alexa RAW and fully post-produced at 3K with Mistika. "We have used the SGO software since pre-production, carrying out tests with the captured materials, viewing the luts, iso, densities..., said Juan Ventura Pecellín, colorist and digital effects supervisor. Once this process was completed, the data collected in the room was used in the two months of filming.
"Versatility, power and the latest technologies. An all-in-one that works like a clock. Being able to work in real time at 4K and 7K on some aerial FX shots for preview and grading, working on the chase sequence creating and enhancing the lights of the elements involved, etc..., means that we gain 100% realism and spectacularity," adds Ventura.
Digital effects
Regarding digital effects, his supervisor maintains that "Mistika has been a key tool that I would personally recommend to all digital effects supervisors within their workflow. Mistika is a fundamental pillar when it comes to viewing, creating effects, pre-grading,... It speeds up the workflow, increasing productivity thanks to the tools and new technologies that are implemented in each version."
The Minimum Island is produced by Atypical Films, Sacromonte Films and Atresmedia Cine, and stars Raúl Arévalo, Javier Gutiérrez, Antonio de la Torre, Nerea Barros, Salva Reina, Jesús Castro, Manolo Solo, Jesús Carroza and Juan Carlos Villanueva. The script is the work of Rafael Cobos and Alberto Rodríguez.
