Cellnex demonstrates in BIT experiences the possibilities of the UHDTV broadcast on DVB-T2 with HEVC
During the two days, a 4K transmission demonstration is being issued on TDT from the Madrid Fair, thanks to the collaboration of RTVE, SAPEC, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Cellnex Telecom.
Xavi Redón, Product Manager of Cellnex Telecom, he explained during his participation in the round table on experiences on the new Broadcast possibilities derived from the application of DVB-T2, HEVC and 4K technologies in BIT Experience 2015 The new transmission possibilities derived from the application of 4K technology to TDT.
The transmission of ultra high definition content in DTT is possible thanks to the use of the HEVC coding format (High Efficient Video Coding) and the DVB-T2 modulation. The ultra high definition in 4K allows multiplying by four the number of pixels used in a high definition emission and increase the frequency of images, in addition to improving the quality of colors, the dynamic range and the degraded tonalities.
According to Redón, "the next step for TDT television will be to incorporate the ultra high definition in 4K so that all viewers can enjoy the feeling of being inside the screen." To what he adds, "during the next few years an increase in production and emission is expected in 4K in the same way that at the time productions and emissions in high definition began."
During the two days, a 4K transmission demonstration is being issued on TDT from the Madrid Fair, thanks to the collaboration of RTVE, SAPEC, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Cellnex Telecom.
It is a 4K emission pilot, with content produced by RTVE and coded by SAPEC, which includes images of Barcelona, the Prado Museum and the year -end bells from the Puerta del Sol in Madrid.
HBBTV standard 2.0
Cellnex Telecom will develop a workshop, to deepen the HBBTV 2.0 standard, second version of the HBBTV standard, which allows multipant interactivity and on which the hybrid DTT is based, -Spanish interactive television specification that integrates DTT and the Internet in the same user experience. The main novelty that HBBTV 2.0 brings is the capacity of direct interaction between the TV and other devices such as smartphones or tablets through applications.
This technology will allow the viewer to interact from its device while TDT content will be displayed on the TV, facilitating the synchronization of the contents on television with those of other mobile devices. Another functionalities of the HBBTV 2.0 standard is the possibility of visualizing content in 4K, downloading videos on a hard drive or using keyboards and mice to control applications.
