Avid Interplay MAM enables the largest Belgian broadcaster to improve collaboration and efficiency
The new system enables team collaboration across the entire production complex in Brussels as well as the integration of existing third-party systems into the workflow.
The Flemish public broadcaster based in Brussels (Belgium), VRT, has adopted Avid Everywhere by installing a media asset management system designed and implemented by Avid Global Services as the first phase of this broadcaster's transition to a high definition workflow. Avid Interplay MAM aims to improve operational efficiency and facilitate better internal collaboration.
VRT has begun a gradual upgrade process to HD in all its facilities. The project began by replacing the SD material database management system with an HD-compatible solution that not only manages its existing media and databases, but also handles new multimedia assets from its self-produced programs, ranging from news to sports and entertainment, live and studio. The new system enables team collaboration across the entire production complex as well as the integration of existing third-party systems into the production workflow during the transition process and beyond.
Wim Willems, HD migration project manager at VRT, acknowledges that "we were looking for a proven and reliable solution that would support our needs today and in the future. We already use iNews in our newsroom, so we discussed our plans with Avid. We are delighted with their solution and their approach. Avid Global Services worked closely with us to map out the way we wanted to work, and developed Interplay MAM and a workflow that suited our specific needs. The Avid team “They have created a MAM solution that will be the cornerstone of our new HD workflow and will grow and develop as our needs evolve.”
