Public Administration, Academic Entities and Private Company bet on 5G
A multilateral agreement aims to promote the development of 5G technologies, products and services within the advanced 5G networks infrastructure program for the future Internet.
R&D telephone, together with the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Community of Madrid, IMDEA Networks, Ericsson and AMETIC (Association of Electronics Companies, Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Digital Contents) have signed a collaboration agreement to support the development of 5G technologies, products and services within the framework of the Advanced Infrastructure Program of 5G networks for the future Internet.
De este modo, entidades públicas y privadas subrayan su compromiso conjunto para el desarrollo de estas tecnologías 5G. En concreto, este acuerdo multilateral se centrará en los programas Advanced 5G Network Infrastructure for Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (5G PPP) y European Technology Platform for Communications Networks and Services (ETP Networld 2020), promovidos por la Comisión Europea dentro del programa Horizonte 2020.
The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and for the Information Society of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Víctor María Calvo-Sotelo Ibáñez-Martín; the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Community of Madrid, Rafael Van Grieken Salvador; the executive president of Telefónica R&D, David del Val Latorre; the president of Ericsson Spain, Ingemar Naeve; the general director of the Association of Electronics Companies, Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Digital Contents (AMETIC), Benigno Lacort, and the director of IMDEA Networks, Arturo Azcorra Saloña.
In addition to this agreement, several initiatives have already been launched to promote the development of 5G technologies and their entrepreneurship environment. Specifically, through their innovation unit, Telefónica R&D, together with IMDEA Networks, they announced a month ago the creation of the first 5G Excellence Laboratory of Spain, called 5Tonic, to create an open ecosystem of innovation and research.
Así mismo, Ericsson es miembro fundador de diversas iniciativas para el desarrollo de 5G en el mundo, incluida la Europea 5G PPP (Asociación para la Colaboración Público-Privada en 5G), fundada en febrero de 2014; el Consorcio METIS, proyecto de la UE que pretende sentar las bases de la tecnología 5G, y 5G Exchange (5GEx), recientemente lanzado, cofinanciado por la Comisión Europea, con el objetivo de crear un mercado europeo unificado de servicios de infraestructuras 5G que integre múltiples operadores y tecnologías.
