Mediapro denounces alleged corporate espionage by Sandro Rosell

Jaume Roures accuses Robert Cama, head of IT at Mediapro until October 2011, of sending Sandro Rosell and Joan Carles Raventós sensitive group and personal information related to Roures himself.

Jaume Roures, CEO of Mediapro, announced this afternoon at a press conference that the audiovisual group has filed a criminal complaint before the Barcelona investigative courts against Sandro Rosell, former president of FC Barcelona, ​​for alleged crimes of disclosure of business secrets, against the privacy of Jaume Roures and aggravated theft.

The reported events would have occurred between at least 2009 and October 2011. Mediapro expands the complaint to Joan Carles Raventós, Robert Cama and against Fútbol Club Barcelona, ​​Bonus Sport Marketing and Socktel Servicios Informáticos.

The evidence provided by Mediapro would demonstrate in its opinion that Robert Cama, the group's IT manager until October 2011, would have deliberately and systematically accessed the emails received and sent by Jaume Roures, sending practically all of them to Sandro Rosell and Joan Carles Raventós.

This criminal activity allegedly continued after the election of Sandro Rosell as president of FC Barcelona and the appointment of Joan Carles Raventós as head of the club's sports sections. Sandro Rosell compensated Robert Cama for his services initially through Bonus Sport Marketing (founded and, at the time, owned by Sandro Rosell) and directly through FC Barcelona when Sandro Rosell became president of the Club.

Jaume Roures has highlighted that this alleged espionage carried out by Robert Cama would affect practically all areas, paying special attention to the information referring to negotiations with financial entities, litigation maintained at that time by Mediapro (with Sogecable, Audiovisual Sport or the Council of the National Competition Commission), the bankruptcy proceedings declared by the company, the negotiations related to audiovisual rights contracts, as well as advertising work or aspects related to television business. of the group.

Mediapro understands that Robert Cama was interested and sent Sandro Rosell and Joan Carles Raventós the email exchanges between Jaume Roures and people such as Evarist Murtra, Pep Guardiola, Joan Oliver, Ferran Soriano, Joan Laporta, several player representatives, the Banc de Sabadell or the Garrigues law firm. The audiovisual group has encouraged all of them to join the complaint as affected parties.

As Roures has emphasized, the events did not respond to an isolated activity, "but rather obeyed a preconceived plan to have access to information related to the activities carried out by Mediapro, and that in some cases competed directly with the activity carried out by Bonus Sport Marketing. The activity carried out by Sandro Rosell, Joan Carles Raventós and Robert Cama borders on illicit association."

Mediapro became aware of these alleged criminal activities in October 2011, proceeding to the sudden dismissal of Robert Cama, who was immediately hired by FC Barcelona and where he continues to serve as IT manager.

However, the group decided to postpone legal actions until the judicial process for the so-called football war is concluded (with a Supreme Court ruling favorable to Mediapro in February 2015) and when there are no more open processes in the negotiation of football audiovisual rights.
