Ericsson has signed an exclusive media delivery services contract with the Australian public broadcaster Special Broadcasting Service (SBS).

After winning a public tender, Ericsson will aggregate, prepare and deliver content from multiple international content owners and distributors through its broadcast and media services center in London and deliver media assets directly to SBS' headquarters in Sydney in a broadcast-ready format.

The Swedish multinational also offers quality control and delivery of complete technical metadata, meeting SBS technical and editorial specifications.

Noel Leslie, director of technology at SBS, highlights that Ericsson's technology will allow “going from a manual process to a digitized one to receive international content, which will allow us to gain efficiency and offer programs to our audience so that they can enjoy global content.”
Thorsten Sauer, director of broadcast and media services at Ericsson, acknowledges that "we have designed our media management services to help our clients streamline their operations and provide them with the flexibility and agility they need to meet the demands of multimedia asset management in an always multi-screen world. This flexibility, combined with cutting-edge technology and efficient workflows, allows us to create a cost-effective solution tailored to each client."

Finally, it should be noted that Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services distributes more than 2.7 million hours of programming in more than 90 languages for more than 500 television channels around the world. Ericsson's global content discovery portfolio spans more than 10 million movies and show titles covering more than 35 languages. Globally, more than 200 million people interact with Ericsson's rich metadata every week. In addition, Ericsson offers more than 230,000 hours of subtitles each year (more than 100,000 hours live).
