Hisdesat and Telefónica Empresas will provide communications services and content to the Spanish military deployed on missions

This initiative will allow us to offer communications and entertainment with a live sports TV channel, news from RTVE's 24-hour channel, as well as other Movistar+ content, such as series and movies.

The Temporary Business Union (UTE) created by Telefónica e Hisdesat will provide the Spanish Ministry of Defense with a solution for the supply of equipment, installation, secure configuration and provision of communications and multimedia services to personnel deployed in areas of operations. The contract has a duration of 14 months and an extension of up to two years.

This joint venture offers a service tailored to the client, thanks to the capabilities provided by both companies, both in terms of satellite communications and Internet service, wireless access and content distribution. Among the services provided, the following stand out: Secure Satellite Transport of Information to operations areas, access to multimedia content, distance training and an Internet access service and IP mobile telephony.

The objective of the Ministry of Defense in launching this innovative and advanced project, through the Information and Communications Systems and Technologies Center (CESTIC), is to improve the living conditions of military personnel on deployments while increasing security and protection against cyber attacks. New digital technologies combined with the robustness of the secure communications network of satellite fleets IN SPAINT y XTAR-EUR, will allow the connectivity of more than 3,200 soldiers and sailors deployed in different operations abroad.

In this way, military personnel deployed in the Area of ​​Operations will be able to count on an individual assistance service through a communications platform (voice and data), online training, and of entertainment (with a live sports TV channel, news from RTVE's 24-hour channel, as well as other Movistar+ content, such as series and movies), from your mobile devices with quality and security.

The first installations will be made in autumn in the missions in Latvia, Somalia, Mali and the Central African Republic, and ships participating in different operations abroad.
