Artis and MediorNet from Riedel offer flexibility and agility to the new Uppercut mobiles in Austria
Uppercut employs Riedel's Artist digital intercom and MediorNet real-time signal transport, processing and routing technology in its two new mobile units.
Uppercut Broadcast, a division of the Austria-based Uppercut Group, has adopted the intercom digital Artist and the technology of transportation, processing and routing MediorNet real-time signals Riedel in its two new mobile units. These two smaller trucks are capable of covering events that would be difficult to access with a large truck. Taking advantage of the scalability of Riedel technology, they can operate independently or combined, connected with a single fiber optic cable.
The larger of the two units is a 12-tonne vehicle that was launched in April 2018. It has the capacity to handle productions with up to eight cameras. Its state-of-the-art communications equipment includes a node Artist-32 with 12 panels, a digital partyline Performer and a radio interface RiFace. Video transport, processing and routing are performed by two software-defined multimedia devices MediorNet MicroN. When replacing a traditional monolithic router, MicroN It is able to reduce system complexity and weight by allowing I/O to be placed where it is needed, while the use of applications allows users to load exactly the capabilities they need. Uppercut Broadcast uses the applications MultiViewer and Control to simplify your workflows and avoid single-purpose boxes.
Typically used for four-camera productions, the smallest unit It is a 3.5 ton van with a node Artist-32 and a digital partyline Performer, plus two devices MicroN of similar configuration.
Daniel Brandstätter, CEO and founder of Uppercut Broadcast, acknowledges that "the real elegance of our solution is that we can combine these two units using a single Lemo hybrid fiber optic cable. We chose this type of cable because it is a standardized broadcast and SMPTE assembly that we also use for our cameras and that many venues have pre-installed."
Uppercut Group is a group of companies offering services ranging from marketing to advanced media throughout Austria and neighboring countries. Events covered by Uppercut Broadcast include Golden League Volleyball, Champions League Volleyball and Field Hockey tournaments, among others.
Jürgen Diniz-Malleck, CEE at Riedel Communications, notes that "Uppercut is a great example of how MediorNet and the concept of decentralized routing can be scaled down to handle events of all sizes. It's not just for the Eurovision Song Contest. Uppercut gets all the routing capacity it needs, plus integrated signal processing, and can control it all from the same panels on which they communicate."
