Since 2018, the operator has supported the Audiovisual Project of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation by transferring space capacity for the live broadcast of three shows.

Liceu - Hispasat Agreement

The satellite operator Hispasat and the Foundation of the Gran Teatre del Liceu have signed in Barcelona the renewal of the collaboration agreement that both entities maintained for the live and satellite broadcast of three operas, both nationally and internationally. These broadcasts are part of the theater's audiovisual project, focused on the promotion and promotion of operatic culture.

The signing ceremony was attended by the president of Hispasat, Jordi Hereu, and the president of the board of trustees of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Salvador Alemany. The president of the Spanish operator stated that "Hispasat is proud to continue collaborating with the Liceu of Barcelona and continue providing our technology for this type of projects. Without a doubt, our satellites are the best means for transmitting these shows and thus contributing to the promotion of culture and extending its stage beyond the walls of the theater and reaching distant audiences, who will be able to enjoy these operatic events throughout Spain and outside our borders within the coverage of Hispasat's satellites."

For his part, Salvador Alemany stated that "the close collaboration with Hispasat has allowed in the past, and will also do so in the future, to disseminate the operatic spectacle internationally, one of the fundamental axes of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The audiovisual genre is and will be a driving force to reach all homes in the world with a unique and very high quality product. Once again the Liceu will be for everyone, and it is for this reason that close collaborations with Hispasat become fundamental to make "This complex process is easier and more accessible. I am sure that in the near future, the Liceu will develop more projects that have this scalability and, thus, continue projecting the Liceu worldwide."

Through this agreement, the Gran Teatre del Liceu offers two operas from the next season via satellite: La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi (December 28, 2020) and Lucia Di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti (July 19, 2021), which will be broadcast live to cinemas around the world; as well as Bohemia by Giacomo Puccini (July 2, 2021), which is included in the program of the High school a la fresca, a project to take opera to the streets so that as many people as possible can enjoy this show.

This agreement is part of Hispasat's Sustainability policy and its commitment to supporting the cultural dissemination of Spanish institutions. In this case, the operator facilitates the opening of the Liceu to the outside, allowing its stage to extend beyond the walls of the theater to reach other audiences in different places in Spain and the world.
