Fernández Armero films 'A thousand kilometers from Christmas'
The filming of the first Spanish Christmas movie for Netflix takes place in Aragon and Catalonia, specifically in the municipalities of Benasque (Huesca) and Arties (Lleida).
Netflix The first film set at Christmas shot in Spain for the platform will be released at Christmas 2021. A thousand miles from Christmas is starring Tamar Novas (The mess you leave), directed by Alvaro Fernandez Armero (If I were rich), with a script Francisco Arnal (down there) y Daniel Monedero (Losing the East), and produced by Kiko Martínez (Secret Origins).
Kiko Martínez comments that "cinema is a reflection of society and we were struck by the fact that there was no Christmas film within the Spanish panorama. Telling this story in an idyllic place in the Pyrenees, almost as if it were a story, is a challenge that we want to face by remembering mythical Christmas films that have marked us as How beautiful it is to live, Love Actually o The big family“.
For the director Álvaro Fernández Armero A thousand miles from Christmas It is a new challenge in his career due to the ambitious nature of its approach: "it is a Christmas comedy with all the elements of the genre, starting with the snow and ending with the reindeer sweaters, which in turn ironizes the convention of Christmas itself. And it does so from the perspective of a caustic and disbelieving character who exudes a humor that I feel very comfortable with. I think it is a very solid and fun script by Francisco Arnal and Daniel Monedero that portrays Christmas as a character central, without ceasing to tell a love story.”
The filming of this new Spanish production, by nobody is perfect, began on December 22 in Madrid and will continue at the beginning of 2021 in different locations in the communities of Aragon and Catalonia, specifically in the municipalities of Benasque (Huesca) and Arties (Lleida).
