Canon reinforces its 4K and 8K portfolio with the XF605 camera and a new zoom lens
Canon launches the XF605 professional 4K camcorder equipped with a 1.0 type CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV7 processor and a 15x 4K L series optical zoom lens with 30x Advanced Zoom in Full HD.
It is a camera capable of working at 4K 60p/50p, 4:2:2, 10-bit and Full HD with a high frame rate of up to 120p in a small form factor. Activated by a sensor CMOS type 1.0 and a processor DIGIC DV 7, this camera performs at the highest level demanded by today's professionals.
The XF605 offers several options for custom images, which can be adjusted to meet different needs and offer greater flexibility in post-production or on location, including HDR (HLG/PQ), Canon Log3 and user-created LOOK Files.
Employing the same 5-axis image stabilization system used in Canon's XF and XA series, the XF605 produces continuous recordings, even in dynamic recording scenarios. Presents four stabilization options Image Enhancement (IS), accessible by combining different settings in Standard, Dynamic and Powered IS, allowing users to select the most appropriate and effective IS operation for the work environment.
With a aim 4K L-series high magnification, the XF605 can work with 15x optical zoom in 4K and 30x advanced zoom in Full HD, ideal for recording subjects in the distance.
The XF605 employs the fast and accurate Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus System Canon's EOS iTR AF This advanced system is capable of maintaining sharp focus on an individual, even if they move away from the camera. A new Direct Touch user interface allows users to quickly and intuitively select the subjects they want to focus on, as well as control on-screen settings, menu navigation and playback.
Versatile and simple
The XF605, which is approximately 10% smaller and 600 grams lighter than the XF705, weighs about 2 kilograms. A comfortable and easy-to-use handheld camera that takes the effort out of recording on the move. Designed with solo workers in mind, it combines portability with a new multi-function accessory shoe, designed to expand the XF605's capabilities with future accessories.
The first of them is themicrophone adapter high definition XLR CA-XLR2d-C, from TEAC. This adapter allows you to assign XLR inputs to the four audio channels available on the XF605, providing greater flexibility when recording sound. The camcorder also responds to the increase in live streaming over the last year, with IP streaming capability compatible with multiple protocols, remote control for multi-camera operations along with Canon's range of PTZ cameras and the addition of UVC to use it as a simple webcam via USB-C.
With two SD card slots and multiple recording options, you can record in different file formats, resolutions, color samples, and proxies simultaneously to separate cards. It also makes it possible for images to be played simultaneously over different 12G-SDI and HDMI connections, transmitted to any combination of monitors, broadcast and recording systems, to work in both live and pre-recorded workflows.
Ideal for recording on the go, the XF605 is compatible with the new app Content Transfer Mobile (CTM) from Canon, which allows users to edit the metadata of the news before and after capturing it and import the recorded images from the camera to the mobile, making possible an instant transfer to the servers of broadcast stations, for example.
10×16 KAS S objective
Another novelty from Canon is the 10×16 KAS S lens that meets the demand for high-resolution 8K productions in sports and documentaries. The 10×16 KAS S, which expands the series of 1.25” 8K broadcast camera lenses Canon's ultra-high resolution cameras, including the UHD-Digisuper 51 and 7x10.7 KAS S, offer impeccable optical performance in a compact format.
Constructed with special glass elements such as fluorite, Hi-UD lenses and large diameter aspherical lenses, the 10x16 KAS S helps reduce chromatic aberrations, spherical aberrations and other defects that degrade image quality.
Weighing only 2,94 kilosThe 10x16 KAS S has been precision-engineered to deliver 8K performance in a durable, portable lens. With a 10x optical zoom range., from 16mm to 160mm, and a constant f/2.8 aperture, this lens provides consistent image quality across its entire range of focal lengths, from wide-angle to tele. Along with the full range of Canon 4K broadcast lenses, the addition of the 10x16 KAS S to the 8K broadcast lens range meets current industry demands and supports future production needs.
