Studio 26miles launches immersive studio with Genelec equipment to improve its broadcast production

Studio 26miles has decided to equip its third headquarters with an extensive production system Dolby Atmos, a need driven by the demand of giants in the sector such as Netflix. Wave Kim, sound supervisor at Studio26, has been betting on sound solutions for years. Genelec. In fact, his first music mixing jobs were performed with the 1031. In his own words: “I've been using Genelec for a long time and I got very used to the sound of their speakers, so I didn't want to take the considerable risk of choosing a different brand.” Today, Genelec is the standard in all Studio 26miles studios: “We have changed all monitoring speakers to Genelec in all our facilities. (…) Using monitor speakers of the same brand, if not the same model, is better to manage the phase of the channels later. For this reason, it made sense to switch to Genelec speakers in all of our studios.”

Reflecting on the entire project, Wave is clearly satisfied with the decision to opt for Genelec, which has allowed it to improve, among other processes, the treatment of dialogues: “When I listened to some work I was mixing in stereo in the main studio during the construction phase, I was happy that there wasn't much drift, but where I needed it, I added acoustic treatment to address frequency drops at some listening points. I am delighted with the full range of sound they provide, and customers have given me incredibly positive feedback.”
