Trilix agency expands its business to recording, mixing and post-production with Genelec
Various monitors Genelec enhance the immersive audio system Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 from the marketing agency Trilix (Iowa, USA), which has decided to satisfy the needs of some of its clients (production companies, musical artists or companies) with the creation of a recording, mixing and post-production studio.
Trilix Studio is born, in the words of Brett Adams, president of the company, to “achieve the most refined audio experience possible.” Although the facilities present four rooms with different technologies, but interconnected with each other, the core of the studio is its Study A: the immersive control room Dolby Atmos. This space has a complete immersive monitoring system Genelec composed of seven 8361A monitors for the main, side and rear ones; four 8351B monitors in height positions, and a subwoofer 7382A. The facilities have been designed by acoustic experts from Russ Berger Design Group (RBDG) and equipped with the latest Sweetwater Integrations.
Phillip Young, chief sound engineer at Trilix Studio, was actively involved in the planning and setup of the studio, as well as its operation. Young didn't have much prior hands-on experience with monitors Genelec, but was fully aware of its reputation when the study was in the planning phase: "I started researching and Genelec seemed like the right solution. I was very familiar with the reputation of the Genelec brand, and had only heard really great things about them. When I brought my preferences to Sweetwater Integrations, they were very enthusiastic about an all-Genelec system. I trusted them completely and didn't need any further convincing."
Young faces all kinds of projects on a daily basis: from mixes for independent bands to progressive metal until pre-production feature films. In all these contexts, Atmos It becomes an essential technology due to its “adaptability” to any reproduction system. The chief sound engineer also highlights the solvency of the software Genelec GLM: "It's been an invaluable way to manage the system. Mark Salamone of Sweetwater put me in touch with Will Eggleston of Genelec Inc. and we sat down together on a video chat, and he personally walked me through the GLM configuration file I made for this room. He gave us great guidance on how to get the most out of our system and adapt it to this space."
"Working day in and day out with these monitors has been something special. I don't have to worry about ear fatigue, which I can't say about monitors from other manufacturers. And what does the future hold? We may consider upgrading the equipment. It's hard to say, but I know that whatever we do, Genelec will be involved," concludes Young.
