Nordisk Film Shortcut acquires Genelec equipment for post-production in Dolby Atmos

The intelligent active monitoring system of Genelec recently integrated into the facilities of Nordisk Film Shortcut from Oslo will allow the post-production studio to start working on content in 7.1.4 format Dolby Atmos.

Nordisk Film Shortcut takes more than 30 years offering comprehensive post-production services, which range from small touch-ups to complete post-production supervision. Recently, they decided to turn to the company Tofastrud Romakustikk to be in charge of designing a room Atmos 7.1.4, as well as five smaller rooms, to produce mixes aimed at productions of Netflix o HBO Max.

Once the decision has been made to adapt the room to the specifications of Atmos HE, the first thing to do was choose monitors. This is how he approached the decision Pål Svennevig, technical director at Shortcut: "The first challenge we faced was finding, specifying and pricing the right monitors for the room. We couldn't have amplifiers in a machine room for this project, so active monitors with class D technology were a definite requirement. It was also very important to get the right SPL and great throw for the LCR. And of course, we needed a supplementary subwoofer that would really integrate with the rest of the system and deliver enough bass."

With additional advice from local distributor Benum Norway, Svennevig and his team ended up opting for three S360 monitors para gestionar los canales de audio izquierdo, central y derecho. Svennevig se muestra satisfecho con la decisión tomada en materia de monitores: “Los monitores de Genelec son sólidos como una roca y funcionan excepcionalmente bien. Lo que realmente cerró el trato fue su perfecta integración en el diseño del estudio. Y con el software GLM (Genelec Loudspeaker Manager) hemos conseguido un control preciso de todo el sistema, lo que nos facilita mucho la vida. Gracias a Genelec, este estudio suena absolutamente increíble”.
