DVB, first European company to bring Calrec's Argo S and ImPulse 1 table to a mobile unit
The Argo S IP console and ImPulse 1 cores Calrec They are part of the supplier's latest mobile unit DVB Production, which offers services in Slovenia and Central Europe.
Founded in 2007, with the aim of renewing mobile production in Slovenia and Central Europe, DVB Productions has grown significantly working with almost all the major broadcasters in the region, including Sky Sport Austria, ORF, ARD o RAI. It has also established close relationships with rights holders and sports federations such as UEFA and FIFA.
Recently, DVB Production began to integrate its new mobile unit OB1 with cutting-edge technologies, among which is a strong commitment to audio IP. In the words of Daniel Cof, CEO of the company: "Adopting IP for audio in our OB1 truck is another big step forward, as there is no doubt that it is the future. In order to find the best console for our requirements, we created a table with all the features we needed. We compared different brands and Calrec is the best fit for several reasons. Full redundancy is a must for the type of work we do, a need that Calrec easily satisfies; in addition, we have great experience with their Brio console in our smallest mobile unit, which which meant our sound engineers could easily adapt to Argo's layout.”
For this project, Calrec created a reduced height version of Argo S combining the functionality of two rows of screens into one, with switchable access to information. Argo's abundant I/O capabilities and overall higher DSP power, especially with networking Dante of DVB and its connectivity with its intercom system, make the table adapt to the latest needs of the sports event coverage industry. The system arrives accompanied by ImPulse1, IP engine designed to manage a single mixer.
DVB Production has already worked on several projects with Argo, the first of which was the UEFA Women's Champions League match in Munich between FC Bayern München and PSG at the end of January. Since then, the external production service provider has handled a broadcast of the UEFA Europa League in Milan, the Ice Hockey League and other productions, “all with great success,” says Cof.
Mike Reddick, international sales director of Calrec, is pleased with the company's work on this project: "We responded to their requirements for a slightly smaller footprint, and our engineering team excelled in the work they did. The proof is in the impressive list of events for which they have already used the technology. We look forward to continuing to work with them to consolidate their position as one of the leading suppliers of mobile units in Central Europe."
