SPL Globally Distributes Saudi Pro League Soccer Matches with Grass Valley AMPP
The AMPP cloud platform of Grass Valley allows SPL Media House distribute live Saudi Pro League football matches to more than 45 international broadcasters
When the Saudi Pro League commissioned SPL Media House (SPL MH) the distribution of the content of the matches, the production company did not have any streaming hardware. Furthermore, the first match was scheduled for six weeks, which made the management bet on a cloud-based infrastructure that could deploy quickly and that it was easily integrated with third-party systems.
After exploring the market, Peter Van Dam, director of operations at SPL Media House, opted for AMPP of Grass Valley, since this proved to be the “single comprehensive SaaS platform” that could run in the cloud and “be built on our very tight time frame"Van Dam also valued his model positively. OpEx, which allows the platform's capabilities to be modified and scaled as the needs of each production change.
To deploy AMPP, SPL converted a small room in its facilities into a Network Operations Center (NOC). The signals of the nine matches that occur weekly (to which are added the matches of the Saudi Women's Premier League) are sent to AMPP through Haivision y LiveU via SRT o IS from the mobile units displaced in the stadiums. These match broadcasts are then distributed from the NOC to various social media platforms and services used by the SPL and the rights holders and for create custom content.
SPL MH also uses cloud-native asset management solution Framelight-X of Grass Valley to create multiple video packages with clubs, players and highlights of the Saudi Pro League that are broadcast through various digital platforms.
