Premios Conecta Fiction & Entertinment 2024

This Thursday, the awards ceremony of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment 2024 awarded to the participating projects in the five pitching categories organized in this edition.

The categories in competition were: Copro Series (fictional series and mini-series), High-End Series (high-budget projects), Music Series (series in which music has a fundamental presence), Docudrama Series (documentaries with dramatized re-enactments) and Feelgood Formats (original entertainment formats that transmit positive energy).

Premios Conecta Fiction & Entertinment 2024The ceremony, hosted by presenter Rubén Ortega together with the director of the event Géraldine Gonard, was preceded by a special session dedicated to the premiere of the first images of Weiss & Morales, a new Spanish-German co-production led by public broadcasters RTVE and ZDF together with production companies Portocabo and Nadcon Film, and distributed by ZDF Studios.

The presentation of this procedural series, which is currently being filmed in the Canary Islands with the leading actors Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Katia Fellin, has had the participation of Nina Hernandez, content director of Portocabo; Peter Nadermann, executive producer of Nadcon Film; Wolfgang Feindt, commissioning editor of feature films and international co-productions of ZDF; and José Pastor, director of film and fiction at RTVE. The person in charge of moderating the table was Susanne Frank, drama director at ZDF Studios.

One of the most important recognitions that have been given during the evening has been the Council of Europe Award for the Development of Series Co-production, valued at €50,000, which went to the Macedonian project The adventures of a turbo-folk princess. The jury has ruled in favour of this title because "through its uniqueness, courage and freshness, it gives voice to underrepresented stories".

This award, which aims to foster creative collaborations in series co-production and strengthen independent producers, is part of the Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions, an initiative of the Council of Europe, home of Eurimages. It involves a non-reimbursable grant dedicated to covering expenses during the development phase of the project. The use of this grant will be governed by a formal agreement between the winning project and the Council of Europe.
