Eutelsat improves the free-to-air satellite reception experience on televisions connected with Sat.tv Connect
Underpinning the momentum of Eutelsat To improve the upstream broadcasting service provided to free-to-air channels carried on its satellites, the French group launches Sat.tv Connect, its new interactive application for connected televisions (with integrated satellite tuner) dedicated to the hundreds of channels broadcast free-to-air on its satellites.
More than half of the world's homes are equipped with a smart TV, but many do not have enough bandwidth to receive good quality programs over the Internet and require satellite TV reception. Sat.tv Connect is part of a hybrid configuration which combines access to live television channels via satellite, in high resolution, with additional services connected through the Internet. Sat.tv Connect incorporates cutting-edge UX features, such as multilingual support, including right-to-left languages, and multi-satellite capability.
Sat.tv Connect offers a channel and program guide that improves navigation through the hundreds of channels broadcast free-to-air through its satellites and received by more than 120 million households with direct-to-home television in the EMEA region. His interfaz de usuario incluye vistas Now, Tonight & Week, a Enhanced Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and a Complete Program Information Package (PIP) to improve the video content discovery experience.
The Sat.tv service, already implemented in a growing base of consumer satellite decoders, is now available on new generation connected televisions (with integrated satellite tuner) thanks to Sat.tv Connect. It combines two interactive television technological standards: HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television), which is already present in the main brand televisions, the DVB-I, the recent logical channel programming standard, which is available in a growing number of new television ranges on the market, making it compatible with more than 3,000 television models.
Laurence Delpy, president of the Video Business Unit of the Eutelsat Group, comments that "as the first satellite operator for the distribution of free-to-air television in EMEA, both in number of channels broadcast and in number of homes served, we are delighted to launch the new Sat.tv Connect application. Sat.tv Connect improves both the quality of the service provided to our broadcasting clients, providing greater visibility for the channels, while improving content discovery and the television viewing experience for users. finals.”
