Sony strengthens its camera ecosystem with LiveU transmission technology
LiveU, recognized for its video transmission technology over IP with multiple links, closes a strategic alliance with Sony to integrate its solutions into the Japanese brand's professional cameras.
The agreement materializes with the launch of the LiveU TX1, a compact device presented at IBC 2025 and available next year, designed specifically for Sony's camera range. This equipment allows file transfers quickly and safely thanks to the LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol, which combines several connections to guarantee stability and quality in the transmission.
The TX1 integrates natively into the Sony ecosystem and can be mounted directly to cameras, such as the newly released Sony PXW-Z300, streamlining production flows in news and outdoor production environments. According to both companies, this is the first stage of a collaboration aimed at transforming immediacy and efficiency in the audiovisual industry.
Masakazu Murata, head of the Media Solutions area at Sony, states that "we want our customers to be able to easily and reliably send recorded files from anywhere to their newsrooms. Collaborating with LiveU allows us to offer an integrated workflow even in critical operations that require advanced connectivity."
For its part, Samuel Wasserman, CEO and co-founder of LiveU, emphasizes that the alliance represents “a vote of confidence in the technological innovation” of the company, in addition to opening new opportunities for users of Sony cameras in the global market.
