Spain adds four nominations at the International Emmy Awards

The International Academy of United States Television Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the International Emmy Awards 2025. Among the 64 nominations in 16 categories, from 26 countries, four Spanish candidates will compete.

This edition represents a record of international participation with productions from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Among the countries represented are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Spain.

The Spanish actor Oriol Pla He has earned a nomination for his role in I, addict. The miniseries produced by That Media for Disney+ it was created by Javier Giner and Aitor Gabilondo, based on Giner's own novel of the same name.

In the sports documentaries section we find another Spanish production: #SeAcabó: Diary of the champions, a 2024 work produced by You First Originals and distributed by Netflix. The film features the Spanish women's soccer team, and chronicles the events surrounding the 2023 World Cup victory, the controversial kiss, and the fight for equality that resulted from the incident.

Two Spanish productions appear in the soap opera category. Wild Valley, the daily afternoon series on La 1, could repeat the feat it achieved The Promise in 2024 as winner of the International Emmy in the soap opera category. The fiction, produced by StudioCanal in collaboration with Bambú Producciones and created by Josep Cister Rubio, shares the nomination with Regreso a Las Sabinas. Produced by Diagonal Tv, this melodrama and romantic drama created by Eulàlia Carrillo for Disney+, began its broadcast on October 11, 2024 and concluded its broadcast on January 10, 2025, consisting of 70 chapters.

All nominees will meet in New York to participate in the International Emmy World Television Festival, which will be held from November 21 to 23, 2025 with panels, presentations and meetings with the industry. The 53rd Emmy Awards gala will take place on November 24, 2025 in New York.
