Go - Edith Cowan University - ECU - IP

The Home platform and the mc²36 tables of Theirs, made up of Pat, Diversified y Technic Media, allow Edith Cowan University students to prepare for new IP broadcast environments by operating from a realistic production environment.

Go - Edith Cowan University - ECU - IPThe Edith Cowan University (ECU) of Perth, in Western Australia, has inaugurated new broadcast facilities on its campus, whose mission is to provide students with students practical experience, provide them with production skills and encourage creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. The production environment focuses on the management platform Home of the Law to IP infrastructures and in the global broadcast control and workflow solution VSM (Virtual Studio Manager), which work in tandem to provide an integrated, future-proof environment. The console mc² audio production36 completes the base ecosystem of the educational institution.

From the beginning of the project, the requirement for ECU for the new infrastructure was to create a study environment that could be prepared quickly and reliably for use in teaching, testing and production, while still being accessible to users with different levels of technical experience. Home serves as the basis for the infrastructure of audio over IP of the facilities, providing centralized discovery, management, security and resource allocation across the console mc²36 and network audio devices. When managing the audio resources over IP transparently, including compatibility with ST 2110, AES67 y Ravenna, the platform allows students to work with IP audio workflows without requiring deep technical knowledge.

Go - Edith Cowan University - ECU - IPBased on Home, VSM acts as the global broadcast control and orchestration layer, unifying the studio's multi-vendor technology stack. Video routing is managed by a Ross Video Ultrix FR5, while IP video transport and synchronization are provided via Riedel Horizon y Riedel Micron. VSM consolidates device control, routing logic, tally and the transitions study status in a single operational interface. By integrating directly with audio resources managed by Home, the system makes all elements work as a coherent system, while providing teachers and students with clearly defined operating modes aligned with teaching workflows.

The console mc²36, meanwhile, provides an all-in-one, professional audio production environment. Equipped with processing technology A__UHD Core, the console offers 384 DSP channels, 864 I/O channels y native IP support for all major AoIP standards. Its interface, which includes screens TFT color faders, touch rotary encoders, Full-HD touch screens and volume meters, offers students a visually rich and highly intuitive operating experience, very similar to that of major broadcast installations.

A unified experience focused on training

Throughout the facility, the principles LUX (Lawo Unified Experience) provide a user experience consistent and role-based. Desktop interfaces VSM and dedicated panels 50 keys are assigned to studio presets and operating modes, such as teaching, production or reset, allowing teachers to prepare the control room with a single action.

For the ECU, the combination of Home, VSM and mc²36 fits your educational objectives- Provide authentic hands-on experience, foster professional skills in modern broadcast workflows and create an accessible and structured learning environment. Students become familiar from the beginning with the IP production infrastructures, while teachers benefit from predictable workflows.

Andrea Burns, academic director of display and media at Edith Cowan University, is pleased with the performance of the solutions Theirs in their new studio: "The studio now resembles a NASA control room, offering capabilities that will be the envy of our colleagues in professional news or production companies. (...) The fact that the team worked with attention to both technical precision and the potential of the students is what has made this collaboration a real success. And they are as excited as we are about the possibilities this system offers our students."
