The housing drama becomes a romantic comedy in 'Everything for the House'
Atresmedia Cinema y Beta Fiction They produce 'Everything for the House', a feature film already being filmed directed by María Togores ('Between Lands') that transfers the current context of housing to a romantic comedy starring Silvia Alonso and Alejandro García.
Everything around the house tells the story of Eva and Miguel, two millennials willing to do whatever it takes to get an affordable apartment in the heart of Madrid, such as “inventing that they are a family despite not knowing each other.” The story, written by Olatz Arroyo, presents with humor the crazy situations into which characters who are no strangers to current social problems such as human disconnection, loneliness, the fight for survival, lies, or the difficulties of parenting are pushed.
The director, Maria Togores, admits that “directing this story is an exciting challenge,” not only to bring these characters to life, but “to be able to delve deeper into a problem as current as access to housing.” The film stars Silvia Alonso and Alejandro García, who will be supported by names such as María Jesús Hoyos, Miguel Rellán and Noah Casas.
Everything around the house It is a production of Atresmedia Cine, Beta Fiction Spain and Chef without waste 2022 AIE, with the participation of Atresmedia and Netflix, and in association with Film Factory. The film, which is scheduled for theatrical release in 2027, also has financing from Crea SGR, the Government of Spain – Ministry of Culture ICAA, the Community of Madrid and Triodos Bank.
This is the synopsis of the feature film: "Finding a rental apartment in Madrid today is an impossible mission. Eva knows it well, she has been trying to get out of a shared apartment for years. Nacho, who is about to be left homeless with his daughter Miri, also knows it. They are both desperate and willing to do anything for a house. When they visit an apartment and discover that the landlords, an old-fashioned older couple, want to rent it to a traditional family, they don't hesitate. pretend to be a couple. Nacho and Eva don't know each other at all, but they are willing to divide the house. What they don't know is that their new landlords live right across the street and are eager to live with the young family.”
