Panasonic Lumix Alicia Robbins

Lumix (Panasonic) has new representatives who will spread the word about the advantages and benefits of its cameras: directors of photography (DoP) Alicia Robbins, Emily Skye and Carissa Dorson.

Robbins, the first female cinematographer to shoot a series for the Shondaland production company, is currently the lead cinematographer on season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy. She has also worked on season 16 of the series and several critically acclaimed episodes, including “Silent All These Years” from season 15. In addition, he has worked on the feature films The Wedding Invitation and BabySplitters, which won Best Romantic Comedy at the 2016 Manhattan Film Festival and Best Comedy at the Burbank International Film Festival; and Best Narrative at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, respectively. Robbins also received the 2018 Emerging Cinematographer’s Guild award for the short film Internet Gangsters and has shot for projects including Creed II, Tag, The Post, WAT and Scorpion.

“I am proud to partner with Lumix to share my personal creative journey and highlight how standout Lumix cameras, such as the S1H, have supported my artistic vision and enabled me to bring creative concepts to life,” comments Robbins. “The picture quality and low light performance of the S1H are second-to-none, and I and really appreciate the ability to shoot on long days without worrying about the camera overheating.”

Panasonic Lumix Emily SkyeSkye, part of #Shefilmtribe

Skye, a Lumix ambassador, is best known for writing, directing and being the cinematographer for her feature film River, which opens this summer. She has won over 18 awards for her River short film, shot in May 2020 and available on DUST, Hollyshorts Bitpix and more. An advocate for women in film, Skye leads a digital community called #shefilmtribe on Instagram, a safe place for women in the industry to encourage and bond with each other, share experiences and dialogue about what it means to be a woman in film. Skye’s Whiskey Docuseries adventure, Binders Stash, will premiere in fall 2021.

“I love the dynamic range of these cameras,” says Skye. “They are also user-friendly for first time filmmakers, and that’s one of the points I make when a young filmmaker asks me about purchasing their own camera. I tell them they can grow with a Lumix. I am excited to bring that element of mentorship to this partnership.”

Panasonic Lumix Carissa DorsonFrom the Internet to a U.S. major

Finally, Dorson is a Los Angeles-based cinematographer originally from Silver Spring, Maryland. She began her career in sketch comedy, shooting videos that have garnered hundreds of millions of views for websites such as CollegeHumor and Funny or Die. Currently, she is the director of photography for A Little Late with Lilly Singh on NBC. She recently directed I Think She Likes You, which premiered at Tribeca; and the comedy It’s a Party, starring SNL’s Ego Nwodim.

“Lumix cameras are some of the most reliable cameras on the market, and you get excellent image quality and resolution in a very small package,” adds Dorson. “But that’s just scratching the surface; there’s really so much to love about the entire range of Lumix cameras, and representing those elements of excellence through this partnership is exciting.”
