Dalet Flex - Migo

La Migo digital distribution service benefits from the Dalet Flex media logistics platform to manage its data delivery operations.

Migo offers a variety of high-quality video content for download via local WiFi hotspots called Migo Download Stations (MDS) for offline viewing on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The solution is currently offered in the Jakarta metropolitan area, where smartphones are common, but downloading large volumes of content or streaming over the cellular network is often not possible due to limited budgets or insufficient broadband infrastructure.

La Dalet Flex cloud platform manages video and metadata packaging requirements, ensuring delivery meets partner service license agreements and compliance regulations. As Daniel Money, director of operations and supply chain at Migo, remarks, “Dalet Flex is a strategic technology solution that manages our data delivery workflow, as we build an entirely new category for content delivery and consumption using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) that is telco-independent.”

Dalet Flex Cloud Architecture

Dalet Flex’s cloud-native architecture provided Migo with the flexibility it needed to adapt to changes brought on by the pandemic, while supporting its ambitious growth plans to reach 1,000 locations this year. It serves as a “home base” for Migo, providing logistics capabilities that orchestrate the packaging of its content. Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), the end-to-end workflow simplifies the numerous upstream and downstream adjustments while providing transparency to the business.

Patricio Cummins, general manager of Dalet in APAC, highlights that “Migo’s business model adds another layer of complexity to the usual digital content packaging and delivery needs.” “Migo can efficiently manage thousands of hours of content within their content warehouse while leveraging in-house integrations for transcoding and distribution,” he stresses.

How Migo works

Migo is a downloadable «bag» of content to go. Consumers can download Migo content via a local public WiFi network at one of the planned 100,000 proprietary kiosks located in small convenience and general stores across Indonesia. Once downloaded, consumers can watch them offline anytime, anywhere, without the need for an Internet connection.

Migo’s innovative workflow has been shortlisted for the prestigious IBC2021 Innovation Awards and will be presented at NAB’s Broadcast Engineering and IT (BEIT) Conference on Wednesday, October 13 at 11:30 AM PST.
